The story takes place on October 31st. It shows children dressed up, making Jack-o'-lanterns and trick-or-treating. The real story takes place after all the children have gone to bed. Then, the jack-o'-lanterns get to have their fun. They go to a party on the moon. Everything is safely in place in the morning.
The illustrations are large and detailed, so you can add your own commentary to the sparse narrative. This would be a good book to share with a group of children.
