New Feature: iGeekHomeschooling
The power of play is taking over our homeschool. We are putting away the lesson plans, which didn't work with my super active little man. When I introduced play into the equation, he started to enjoy our lesson time. Today, we were playing while cleaning up his room and he stopped to engage the alphabet puzzle. He said he had to find certain letters in order to win back his super powers.
I've been doing tons of research. Not only will these ideas and activities I'm coming across work for us at home, but they can translate into play time at the library. I'm planning a more formal "play date" time on Fridays when the weather gets colder. The keyword for those activities will be sensory!
I have one more week to plan and we are going to restart lessons in October. We'll be doing a monthly theme with letter, number and color of the week features. As we live in an agriculturally rich community, we'll be taking lots of trips to fields, farms and pumpkin patches. The theme for October is the FARM.
I'll keep you updated on our homeschool adventure, especially fun crafts and activities for the season. For November, we'll do the theme FALL. I'd like to do a TRANPORTATION theme when it gets warmer for field trips. Any ideas for winter or December themes?
